                ROUND 12 – 9/2/12
Just a quick wrap of scores from the penultimate week. Sorry for the delay but I’ve been flat out. The Club is after a Publicity Officer at the AGM – Monday 6th March – if anyone is interested. Any Journalism students out there?

Hook’n’Cook/Tea Gardens Hotel routed Special T’s 9-0. Carl Baker grabbed a goal while Mitch Markham & Marty Grech scored 4 each! MVP to Marty.

The Black & White Fellas defeated Venom FC 7-0. Doubles to Jye & Colver plus singles to Shyan, Karen & Pat. MVP to Jye.

In the only close game of the night, Ede’s Real Estate beat Fracked FC. Ryan Talbot scored twice for Fracked but Dave Morgan beat that with a hat-trick for Ede’s to run out winners 3-2. MVP to Morgo.

UFO’s only had 5 but still had an overlap against the 4-man Wasted Youth. Unfortunately, no subs & that much space is always going to play into the hands of the younger side. Jamie Gordon scored for UFO’s but Trent Lamborn goaled 5 times & Brad Keaton got a double as the Youth ran out 7-1 winners.

Smiths Lake Bottle-O played Bullrouts & at least they both had 6 players. No subs, but 6 players. A double to Mark Judson & singles to Cath, Mal & Kiemy wrapped up a 5-0 win. MVP to Cath Hopton.

Gryffindor forfeited the last game of the night against Robyn’s Cafe.

Going into the last round, the top 3 were firmly entrenched – Robyn’s Cafe, Smiths Lake & the Fellas. Hook’n’Cook were in 4th on goal difference ahead of Bullrouts. Wasted Youth & Ede’s were 1 point back & Red Rockets only 1 behind them so all the teams from 4th – 8th had a chance to make the A Finals. Fracked & Venom look set to fight out the C Finals while UFO’s, Gryffindor & Special T’s wrestle for the spoon.

                ROUND 13 – 16/2/12
Game 1 saw Wasted Youth with a chance to grab the final spot in the A Finals. Fielding 6 players for the 1st time in weeks, they gave themselves that chance with an emphatic 11-1 win against Venom FC. Damo scored for Venom while for Youth, Trent had a field day scoring 6. Add a double for Jake & singles to Brad, Gaby & Nod. Trent also scored the MVP.

In the other early game, a win to Bullrouts would have seen them into 4th but it was not to be as Ede’s nailed them 6-1. Cam scored their only goal while Dave Morgan repeated his hat-trick effort from the week before. Brendan Smith scored twice to double his tally for the year & Bushy came out of goals long enough to grab one himself. MVP again to Morgo. The win saw Ede’s equal with Wasted Youth but in 5th on goal difference, pending other results.

After the early results, Red Rockets were unable to grab 4th spot but that didn’t stop them from putting UFO’s to the sword. UFO’s only had 5 players but Rockets didn’t go easy, finishing 11-2 in front. Dave Sibert got both goals for UFO’s. For Rockets, Mitch Aquilina, Jo King & Ash Lamborn all scored hat-tricks while Tom Evans & Fiddo scored as well. MVP to Mitch.

In Game 4, Hook’n’Cook/Tea Gardens Hotel only needed a win to hold onto a berth in the A Finals but it wasn’t to be as 9th-placed Fracked defeated them 4-0. Again, having no subs against a younger team will get you every time. Ryan Talbot scored a double again this week while Luke Schaefer & Ross Talbot also scored. Ryan picked up the MVP. The win by Fracked saw them finish on top of C Division & finalised Wasted Youth as the last A Div finalist.

The late games saw 1st v 13th and 3rd v 12th. Well, it would have if Gryffindor had turned up. Again, it is bad form to forfeit without notice – especially against a team like the Fellas from out of town.
The top vs bottom game went as expected. Special T’s never gave up & scored their customary goal – this week to Scott Ross which saves him from the end-of-season Nudie Run. Robyn’s Cafe underlined their competition favouritism by scoring 16. Dylan got 6, Jenko 4, Rhys 3, Ashlee 2 and Jordan 1. A lucky goal to Jordy which is also his first for the season. MVP to Dylan.

                FINALS NEXT WEEK – 23/2/12
With the season decimated by wet weather, we are in the unusual position of having 3 teams undefeated & 3 teams yet to register a win. However, with Robyn’s Cafe drawing the bye during a washout they actually played 1 more game than Smiths Lake & the Fellas & finished on top. At the other end, the T’s also had the bye during a wet week which meant they lost 1 more game than UFO’s & Gryffindor and finished with the spoon.
                Games are as follows:

                5.30 – Field 1 – Fracked FC vs TBA (Gryffindor/Special T’s)
                5.30 – Field 2 – Venom vs UFO’s
                6.30 – Field 1 – Ede’s Real Estate vs Bullrouts
                6.30 – Field 2 – Red Rockets vs Hook’n’Cook/Tea Gardens Hotel
                7.30 – Field 1 – Robyn’s Cafe vs Wasted Youth
                7.30 – Field 2 – the Black & White Fellas vs Smiths Lake Bottle-O

                See you there!
